Preferred format for logos & artwork
• Logos and artwork must be presented in a digital format (i.e. via email, FTP or CD).
• Vector art is required for logos and text in Adobe Illustrator or editable Adobe Acrobat format (CS3 or earlier version). Vector art is artwork that has points and lines. It can be manipulated and resized without resolution loss. These files usually have an ".ai" or ".eps" extension. Editable ".pdf" files are also acceptable, but we are not able to use ".jpg" files that have been saved out as ".pdf" or ".eps" files. They must be saved out from the original vector art.
• Providing PANTONE (PMS) number references for all colors is highly encouraged. CMYK printing is available, but in order to match colors exactly, PANTONE specifications must be provided. (For matte finish fabric, we suggest using Uncoated PANTONE colors and for satin finish fabric, Coated PANTONE colors are acceptable.)
• Please ensure that PANTONE colors are chosen from a PANTONE book and not from a computer screen, as monitors do not accurately display how the color will print.
• Artwork that has percentages of PANTONE colors cannot be accepted. We recommend selecting a lighter PANTONE color as an alternative.
• If CMYK colors are to be used, please note that the factory can only print them to the nearest 10% and the final banners cannot be rejected on the basis of color.
• Using Black Due to the nature of digital printing, the flood coat (solid fill) blacks appear more like a dark charcoal grey than a black.
• Please note that due to the nature of digital printing, we cannot print metallic or fluorescent PANTONE colors. Below is a list of gold and silver type of colors that will print satisfactorily as CMYK alternatives.
• Please clearly label PANTONE colors if your art requires them. In addition to the vector artwork, a screenshot (a ".jpg" or low resolution ".pdf") can be used to label where each color goes.
• When laying artwork into a template, please ensure that anything not intended to bleed off the sides is contained within the grey "band line" as this is where the stitching will be on the finished banners.
• When logos or artwork are sent through for layout, please make sure to include any instructions you would like the layout to follow (colors, positioning, etc.)
• All type should be converted to paths or outlines. Otherwise fonts must be supplied with file.
• All files need to be saved in an editable format. Do not parse or imbed support files into a layout file. Always link, never imbed. Provide all linked files with layout files (vector files).
Preferred format for scans or photos
• If scans or photos (raster art) are part of your layout, they should be supplied as layered Photoshop ".psd" files. Do not flatten the layers.
• All scans and photo images should be supplied at a minimum of 150 dpi at 100% actual size (the size they will be printed on the banner). Our digital printers can print 300 dpi plus, so the higher the resolution of the art you provide, the sharper your images will appear on the banner.
•
Text will bitmap when blown up, so it should only be created in a vector art program like Adobe Illustrator.
• All scans and photos (raster art) must be submitted in CMYK.
Layout Specifications
• When working with scans or photos (raster art) all editing, like rotating or clipping should be done in the raster art program like Adobe Photoshop, before they are linked to the layout file.
• Never use hairlines. Use a minimum of .3 points
• Avoid using outlines, shadows, fading or vignettes, as they are not guaranteed to print properly and usually appear much more subtle in print than originally envisioned.
Acceptable Software
• Adobe Illustrator CS3 or earlier, ".ai" or ".eps" files (vector art - preferred whenever possible)
Note: Do not check "Split Complex Paths" or "Compatible Gradient Printing" in Document Setup.
• Adobe Photoshop CS3 or earlier, ".psd" (raster art - for hi resolution scans or photos only)
Sending Artwork to Move 'In Media Marketing
• Sending a reference file along with your art files always helps to expedite the process, so we can catch any discrepencies between what the artwork looked like on your monitor and what it looks like on ours. This can be sent along with your high resolution files as a ".jpg" or screen resolution ".pdf".
• If the artwork is 5 MB or smaller, please email to graphics@moveinmedia.com
• Larger files can be sent via FTP. Contact our Graphics Department at 1.800.735.9161 x3 or
graphics@moveinmedia.com for detailed instructions.
• The 2 options above are best for quick turn around deadlines, as the artwork will arrive to us immediately.
• Mailing a disc is also an option for files over 5 MB that are not rush orders.
